Classic & American Car Electrician
30/10/2018
Profile A fifties child of the last millenium. Always curious about how things worked, dismantling and reasembling on a journey of discovery (without losing bits) ! ‘74 Joined one of the big TV rental companies as a trainee service engineer to learn electronics. Began building wiring looms for Rally Cars as a hobby. ‘79 Joined Bell Fruit gaming machine company as their first field service engineer when they introduced “Space Invaders” game machines which took the country by storm (and nearly drove us all mad walking sideways lifting both arms up and down whilst moving ever closer)! Developed connections working with Rally Car builders, constructing custom wiring looms for the whole car with safety cut-out systems and instrumentation and worked on the early imported European fuel injection systems like the 1979 Opel Kadett, as run by Richard West of Rallysport magazine. ‘81 resumed work in the TV and Video industry and learned about the new VHS video (early computer network systems). ‘90 Having researched, in my spare time, vehicle electronics, diagnostic tool manufacturers, engine management systems, ABS braking, vehicle wiring and networking, then started my own Car electrical business working mainly freelance for the smaller garages. Owned and/or worked on various Classic American Cars from ‘49 Chevy trucks to Trans Ams, Mustangs and ‘90’s Cadillacs and European Classics such as Triumph, Austin, Hillman, Standard, Vauxhall, Ford, Bedford, Borgward Isabella, MG, Jensen, Armstrong Siddeley, Jaguar and Rolls Royce….. Spent a lot of time working with various computers and multiple diagnostic tools attached to various cars investigating the complexities of multiplexed wiring systems but now I am concentrating on my passion for, and specialising in, the Classic and American cars. TESTIMONIALS

Hi

i have a selection of American cars

and two of these in particular have needed specialist electrical attention and Phil was originally engaged after a recommendation by Specialist Auto Parts based in Yeovil.

I have visited his old unit and had call outs and if anyone has problems you will know just how complicated even a simple job can get .

Phil persevered in every case and never gave up even though some issues were just not worth his effort to continue.

He comes highly recommended by me and my team of mechanics if you need a specialist sparks.
